Who Is Eligible To Adopt
Couples who have been married a minimum of 5 years and are 25 years of age or older, with no more than a 40 year difference between the age of the child and the age of the prospective adoptive parents (PAPs)
Both married and single PAPs can adopt.
Children Available For Adoption
Children available for adoption in Poland are light-skinned and tend to look Caucasian. More boys are available for adoption than girls. They may be as young as 1 year old, but are most often referred by the adoption centers at 6 years of age and older. Sibling groups are available for adoption and may include younger children. The 3 adoption centers act as the Central Authority in Poland and handle the matching process. PAPs who are considering this program should be open to adopting a child 6 years of age or older.
 Length of Process
The length of the process is unknown at this time due to the newness of the program. Political unrest, age preferences, and other factors may also affect the length of process.
Travel
PAPs are required to travel to Poland twice to complete the adoption process. Each trip is estimated to be 7 to 10 days in length. A New Beginnings representative and coordinator will be available to facilitate all adoption related activities while in country.
 Post Adoption Requirements
The Ministry requires that PAPs submit post adoption reports completed by a social worker at 6 and 12 months after the completion of the adoption.
